Carmen & Geoffrey #NationalTreasure

I’m having a little dance “crush” on Carmen de Lavallade.  After meeting her post-show in January, I’ve revisited my dance history notes on her.  When I saw a notice that Baryshnikov Arts Center was playing a film about her and her husband, Geoffrey Holder, I couldn’t get there fast enough.  Another dancer friend of mine joined me for the evening at BAC.

Having met on the set of House of Flowers, Carmen and Geoffrey quickly formed their immeasurable bond.  The film is laid-back, offering glimpses into Carmen and Geoffrey’s performing and personal lives.  Critics, dancers and choreographers provide their insights into the lives of these two dancers.  The viewer sees them as people, lovers, friends, artists, and icons.  I feel like I got to hang out with them – if only!

My crush continues…
